To whom is a will permissible in inheritance, and what is its value?

A will is permissible for any person as long as they are not an heir, based on the Prophet's (peace be upon him) saying: "There is no will for an heir." It is a condition that the legatee be alive, either literally or constructively. A will made for a deceased person is invalid according to the three Imams. It is preferable for the will to be for poor relatives who are not heirs. However, if one bequeaths to others, the will is valid according to most scholars. The maximum limit for a will is one-third.
