Lying is forbidden except in exceptional cases to achieve a benefit without harming others, such as: reconciling people, in war, and in a man's conversation with his wife. Some scholars are of the view that lying is permissible in anything that involves a benefit without harming others. Lying is not permissible to conceal one's salary from one's wife; rather, allusive speech can be used, provided that it does not deprive her of her rights.
