What is the authenticity of reciting Surahs Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, and An-Nas three times after Fajr and Maghrib prayers, and once after Dhuhr, Asr, and Isha prayers? What is the evidence for this from the Sunnah?

It is recommended to recite the three Mu'awwidhat (Surahs Al-Ikhlas, Al-Falaq, and An-Nas) three times after the Fajr and Maghrib prayers, and once after the other prayers. This detail is based on two authentic Hadiths:

1. The First Hadith: On the authority of Abdullah ibn Khubayb, may Allah be pleased with him, that the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said to him: "(Say: 'Qul Huwa Allahu Ahad' and the two Mu'awwidhat, three times when you enter the evening and when you enter the morning, they will suffice you against everything)." Narrated by At-Tirmidhi and Abu Dawud. This includes recitation after Fajr until sunrise, and from after Asr until sunset.

2. The Second Hadith: On the authority of Uqbah ibn Amir, may Allah be pleased with him, he said: "The Messenger of Allah, peace and blessings be upon him, commanded me to recite the Mu'awwidhat after every prayer." Narrated by Ahmad, Abu Dawud, and An-Nasa'i, and authenticated by Al-Hakim. The wording "Al-Mu'awwidhat" is preserved, and it refers to the three Surahs, including Al-Ikhlas.

The Permanent Committee for Scholarly Research and Ifta has issued a fatwa stating the obligation to recite (Qul Huwa Allahu Ahad), (Qul A'udhu bi Rabb al-Falaq), and (Qul A'udhu bi Rabb An-Nas) after every prayer, and to repeat them three times after Fajr and Maghrib.
