Is it permissible to take surplus stationery from the oil company to one's home?

It is not permissible to take anything in excess of what is needed from work to use at home for personal purposes, unless permission is granted by the authorized person in the workplace. This is because you are entrusted with it. Allah Almighty says: "O you who have believed, do not betray Allah and the Messenger or betray your trusts while you know [the consequence]." And the Prophet, peace be upon him, said: "All of you are guardians and responsible for your subjects." However, if you are granted permission by someone authorized to do so, or if it is the established custom of the work, then there is no blame upon you.
