Does the mother's rejection of a committed young man who has little means indicate that this young man is not good?
The most important considerations for a suitor are his religiosity and character. If someone whose religiosity and character you approve of comes forward, then marry him off. Financial circumstances alone should not be a reason to reject a suitor. It is sufficient that he is capable of earning a living and keen to do so, and marriage is one of the causes of richness. It is advisable to try to convince the mother to agree to the young man. If she insists on refusal, then the girl has the right to marry without her mother's consent if the suitor is a man of religiosity and good character. A woman may be harmed by rejecting a suitor. She should strive to earn her mother's satisfaction after marriage.
