Must she re-fast the fortieth day and pray on it, and does the woman resume fasting on the forty-first day or wait, after the cessation of postpartum bleeding then the return of yellowish-brown discharge, then its cessation until the fortieth day, then seeing a yellowish fluid after breaking the fast?

If a woman sees yellowish or brownish discharge (yellowish or turbid blood) connected to postpartum bleeding (nifas), then it is nifas blood. If the bleeding stops and she sees the white discharge (al-qassah al-bayda') or dryness, then she has become pure. Her prayers and fasting thereafter are valid. Seeing yellowish or brownish discharge after purification does not harm her, based on the statement of Umm Atiyyah: "We used not to consider the yellowish or brownish discharge after purification as anything." She is permitted to continue fasting unless she sees menstrual blood.
