How can one deal with a marriage that lasted only five separate months over three years, where the marriage was forced, and the father refuses divorce, leaving the questioner in a situation where she is neither married nor divorced?

If the marriage contract was concluded without your consent, you have the right to annul it or to uphold it. Annulment requires a ruling from a judge. However, if any action on your part indicated consent to the contract, such as allowing your husband to be intimate with you, then the marriage becomes binding. In this case, you should ask your husband for a divorce or for a khul‘ (dissolution of marriage in return for compensation). If he refuses, you have the right to refer the matter to the Sharia (definition) courts. We advise you to repent sincerely to Allah and to increase your acts of obedience and good deeds.
