What is the ruling on smoking? Thank you.

1 min readAlso available in العربية

Smoking is Islamically forbidden (haram) because it is foul and entails tremendous harms and corruptions. Allah has permitted good things and forbidden foul things, and smoke is not among the good things. It leads to the destruction of the self and wealth. Allah Almighty says: (And do not kill yourselves) and (Do not throw yourselves with your own hands into destruction). The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "There shall be no harm or reciprocating of harm." Spending money on smoking is considered forbidden. If smoking is forbidden, then selling it is also forbidden, because when Allah forbids something, He also forbids its price.
