Did the Companions recite Surat Al-Asr to each other, and when, where, and why?

The Companions used to recite Surat Al-Asr when they parted, because of the great counsels it contains. Al-Albani mentioned that the chain of narration of the hadith indicating this is authentic, and Al-Shawkani mentioned that their recitation of it was due to what it encompassed of good admonition and the mutual exhortation to truth and patience. Sayyid Qutb said that they used to commit themselves to its divine constitution.
