What is the ruling on repeatedly committing a sin after having sworn to abandon it by saying, "My Lord, admit me to the Fire if I commit that sin"?

Whoever commits a sin must offer sincere repentance and resolve not to return to that sin. It is not permissible for a Muslim to supplicate for punishment upon himself, according to the hadith: "Do not supplicate for anything but good for yourselves." The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, once visited a man who was supplicating for the hastening of the punishment of the Hereafter in this world. He forbade him from doing so and guided him to the supplication: "O Allah, grant us good in this world and good in the Hereafter, and protect us from the torment of the Fire." This hadith forbids supplicating for the hastening of punishment and expresses aversion to wishing for affliction.
