What is the ruling on one who permitted pictures of animate beings and sculptures, and storing them in the house, while knowing their ruling, then repented while those pictures and sculptures remained in his home; is his repentance valid?

Here there are two distinct evils: committing the forbidden act, and describing it as permissible, which is more grave. The majority of scholars say that repentance from one sin is valid even while persisting in another. Accordingly, the repentance of one who described the forbidden as permissible is valid, even if he continues to commit it.
