Is it obligatory for a traveling man to eat with his family throughout his vacation, and is he sinful if he brings food only for his wife, and is he entitled to deprive his wife of food because of his family, and is the mother entitled to be angry if her son eats with his wife alone, or if they stroll alone, and is the vacation only for the family?

A man must honor and obey his parents and bring joy to them. It is not a condition that he should not eat with his wife or go out with her. A righteous wife should help her husband in honoring his parents. The husband must be wise in combining honoring his parents with good treatment of his wife. He can go out with his wife and children or eat with her without his mother knowing. He is permitted to use allusions and circumlocution if lying becomes necessary.
