Is it permissible for a Muslim who has repeatedly sworn oaths and broken them, and who possesses savings insufficient to feed ten poor people for each oath, to expiate by fasting three days, knowing that he may need this money? And is he obligated to spend all that he earns to expiate the oaths, or is he allowed to save money?

One should not swear excessively by Allah. Regarding expiation for an oath, it is not permissible to resort to fasting if one has the ability to feed, clothe, or free a slave. Whoever possesses the means of expiation beyond his own sustenance and the sustenance of those he is obliged to support for a day and a night, is not permitted to resort to fasting instead of feeding. However, if you have expiated for some oaths until your funds are depleted, then it is obligatory to complete the expiation by fasting.
