What is the ruling on the article "Sustenance is in the Hands of Madmen"?

The saying: "Sustenance is in the hands of the insane" carries two possible meanings:

1. That the insane are those who provide sustenance. This is forbidden and believing it is disbelief (kufr), because Allah alone is the Provider, as He says: "And there is no creature on earth but that upon Allah is its provision," and "Allah extends provision for whom He wills and restricts [it]," and "So seek provision from Allah."

2. That Allah may provide sustenance to a servant through an action caused by an insane person, and Allah is the Causer. There is no objection to this saying.

A Muslim must adhere to lawful terminology and avoid ambiguous and misleading expressions that suggest false meanings.
