Is it permissible to take the money resulting from winning a million dollars in a competition to obtain residency in America?

It is not permissible to take these funds by way of ownership. However, it is permissible to take them and spend them on the welfare of Muslims and in charitable endeavors, because it is not permissible to take compensation for competitions except in what has been permitted by the Shari'a.
