Any competition in which the organizer alternates between loss and gain, and which involves paying a subscription or the price of a participation card, is considered prohibited gambling (maysir). It is not permissible to participate in it if participation is for a fee. The objectives, means, and fields of the competition must be legitimate, the prize should not come from all contestants, it must achieve a legitimate purpose, and it must not lead to neglecting an obligation or committing a prohibited act.
