What is the expiation for an oath that is frequently broken, what is the ruling on an oath sworn by a fasting person if it is broken, and what should the questioner do, as she swore not to recognize her fiancé, and he refused what she asked of him?

Frequent swearing is reprehensible religiously and disliked naturally. Allah Almighty says: "And guard your oaths," and "And do not obey every [habitual] swearer, contemptible," because frequent swearing is contrary to the glorification of Allah and the preservation of His names. Swearing an oath while fasting and then breaking it does not affect the validity of the fast. The expiation for an oath is: feeding ten poor persons, or clothing them, or freeing a slave. Whoever cannot find [the means], then he must fast for three days. It is not permissible to expiate by fasting if the person is able to feed [the poor]. And the questioner owes expiation for the oath that her fiancé rejected.
