Does feeling distressed upon seeing a suitable suitor, who is religiously committed and a memorizer of the Quran, necessitate seeking a way to undo envy (hasad) or sorcery (sihr)?

A Muslim should not be hasty in attributing any affliction they experience to magic or envy, for it could be a trial through which Allah elevates their ranks and expiates their sins. If there is a strong presumption of magic, one should turn to Allah through supplication and humble entreaty, for He is the Healer and the Remover of harm, as stated in the Quran: "Is not He who responds to the distressed one when he calls upon Him and removes evil?" (Quran 27:62). One should also diligently perform ruqyah (definition) (Islamic exorcism), and it is best for a Muslim to perform it on themselves. If they need a raqi (one who performs ruqyah), then that person should be upright in their belief, actions, and conduct. It is also recommended to perform Istikhara (prayer for guidance) for every matter of importance to a person, such as marriage.
