Is it permissible to show only the eyes in front of non-mahram men?

It is permissible for a woman to show her eyes for vision, but it is not permissible for men to look at them. Sheikh Abdullah bin Humaid mentioned that there is no harm in wearing a niqab that covers the entire face except for the eyes, and that necessity permits revealing the eyes for a woman to see her way. Sheikh Salih Al-Fawzan permitted covering the face with a niqab or burqa with two openings only for the eyes out of necessity, if that is customary for the woman in her society. It should be noted that some women do not adhere to showing only their eyes and go beyond that to uncovering a part of their forehead or nose, which led some scholars, such as Sheikh Ibn Uthaymeen, to prohibit wearing the niqab and burqa due to the leniency that occurs.
