What is the ruling on manufacturing and selling clothes for men and children that contain writings such as sayings of famous Muslims or others, wisdom, proverbs, or hadiths that encourage contemplation, doing good deeds, and abandoning vices? Is it permissible to write on clothes in Arabic and other languages? Can a Prophetic or Qudsi hadith be written, and what are the limits of that with mentioning the name of Allah or His names? Can inanimate drawings be used for illustration? And is doing so in foreign languages considered an invitation to the way of Allah or enjoining good and forbidding evil?

Writing on clothes is permissible in principle, but it is not appropriate to write Allah's name or on them, as they are susceptible to disrespect. Some scholars have gone so far as to deem it obligatory to respect all written material, whether in Arabic or other languages. As for merely drawing pictures of inanimate objects, it is permissible.
