Is it a condition for the takbīrāt to be continuous or not?

Scholars differed on the issue of connecting the takbirat (Allahu Akbar recitations) of the adhan (call to prayer) or separating them. Al-Nawawi, in his commentary on Muslim, authenticated the connecting of every two takbirat. However, some verifiers upheld the permissibility of pausing after each takbirah, and Shaykh Bakr Abu Zayd preferred this opinion. It appears that the matter is broad, so whoever connects them is not at fault, and whoever separates them is not at fault. Hashiyat al-Rawd mentioned that the takbir at the beginning of the adhan consists of four phrases, and at its end, two phrases, with a pause after each takbirah. Shaykh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah indicated that whoever makes the four takbirat into two phrases vocalizes the first takbirah in both instances, and this is correct according to the predecessors and successors of the Ummah.
