Is ruqyah permissible for a sick person only, and is it a condition to sit near him or touch him during ruqyah?

It is legislated for a Muslim to benefit from Ruqyah (definition) (exorcism/incantation) even if they are not afflicted, and it is permissible for a healthy person to seek Ruqyah due to fears of being overcome by misfortunes. As for spitting, it is one of the essential elements of Ruqyah, and it is legislated to do so into the hands and wipe them over the body, or directly onto the person being treated. It is also permissible to recite Ruqyah over water for the patient to drink.
