How does one repent from disbelief, polytheism, reviling religion and the Prophet, denying prophethood and prayer, and committing major sins? Is mere repentance sufficient to erase all sins? Is it obligatory to delete forbidden applications? Is it obligatory to apologize to those who have been cursed, backbitten, and reviled? Is it sufficient to utter the two declarations of faith and disavow other religions to enter Islam, or must one also repent from sins?

To repent from disbelief (kufr) and other sins, the conditions are: abandoning the sin, regretting having committed it, and resolving not to return to it. One must also pronounce the two declarations of faith (Shahadatayn) to return to Islam. As for programs used for both lawful and unlawful purposes, it is not permissible to use them for what Allah has forbidden. It is preferable to delete them if one fears falling into the unlawful. It is also recommended to frequently engage in the remembrance of Allah Almighty, make supplication (Du'a), and draw closer to Him through righteous deeds and supererogatory acts, for indeed, good deeds efface evil ones. One must also have a good opinion of Allah, remain steadfast upon His law, and not despair of His mercy.
