Has the wisdom behind the multiple recitations ended with the termination of Arabic dialects, as transmitted from the predecessors like Al-Baqillani, Al-Tahawi, and Ibn Abd al-Barr?

If the intention behind the multiple readings is the Seven Ahruf (modes of recitation), then some of the Salaf held that the Companions' writing of the Mushaf during the time of Uthman was limited to one Harf, which was the one present in the final عرضة (review). The scholars have differed on the survival of the Seven Ahruf in the recitations, holding three opinions:

1. The First Opinion (Al-Tabari, Al-Tahawi, and Ibn Abd al-Barr): Uthman united the people upon one Harf, and the other six Ahruf vanished. 2. The Second Opinion (Ibn al-Jazari and those who agreed with him): What remained of the Seven Ahruf was that which the orthography of the Mushaf could accommodate. The Mushaf was written according to one Harf (the language of Quraysh) and was stripped of diacritical points and vowel marks so as to accommodate other Ahruf from the remaining six. This is the opinion of the majority and the researchers. 3. The Third Opinion (Al-Suyuti and those who agreed with him): The Uthmanic Masahif encompassed all seven Ahruf.
