Is feeling distressed and burdened when fulfilling a father's request considered an act of disobedience (ʿuqūq), and how can this feeling be addressed?

The criterion for filial disobedience (uquq) is any statement or action that causes distress to the parents, unless their request involves an act of disobedience (to Allah). As for the feeling of discomfort a person experiences in fulfilling a parent's need, if it remains confined to the heart and does not manifest in any words or actions that harm the parent, then Allah will not hold them accountable for it. However, a person must not take this discomfort lightly. They should address it through supplication (du'a'), reliance on Allah, contemplation of the parents' virtue and the importance of obeying them, and by reading and listening to accounts of the merits of honoring parents and the biographies of those who were dutiful to them.
