A Muslim must guard his tongue from obscenity and foul language, such as insults, curses, and maledictions. The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The believer is not a slanderer, nor a curser, nor an obscenity utterer, nor a lewd person." The prohibition is even more emphasized when it is directed at a Muslim brother, based on the Prophet's saying, peace and blessings be upon him: "Abusing a Muslim is فسوق (disobedience), and fighting him is kufr (disbelief)," and his saying: "A Muslim is one from whose tongue and hand other Muslims are safe." Therefore, one must repent, seek forgiveness, and ask for pardon from the brother.
