If a fasting person swallows saliva mixed with blood unintentionally, their fast is valid. But if they swallow it intentionally, their fast is nullified, though some say it is not. If the blood is profuse and continuous, it is excused, and the person is not commanded to expel it or wash it, nor does swallowing it break their fast. Otherwise, they are commanded to expel it, and rinsing the mouth is recommended. If they swallow blood or saliva altered by it intentionally, they have broken their fast, though some say it does not break it. If it was due to an overwhelming situation, it does not break the fast.
