What is the ruling of Sharia on dealing with the family of the fiancée who currently refuse the marriage contract and demand to sit with her periodically, and threaten to annul the engagement if refused?

What has become prevalent regarding sitting and being alone with one's fiancée is regrettable. The Sacred Law only permits looking at her face and hands, and what is necessary for a strong overriding interest. She is like other non-mahram women; it is not permissible to look at her or to be alone with her except within a narrow scope. Any custom that contradicts this must be abandoned. We advise dealing with wisdom and gentleness. If her family is not convinced to expedite the marriage contract, then he may visit them in the presence of her mahrams, and there is no harm in her presence if it is thought that this would please them. However, a visit that leads to seclusion (khalwa) or an inappropriate situation is not permissible to obey them in; for there is no obedience in disobedience.
