What was the Messenger's methodology in conveying the Islamic call?

The methodology of the Messenger of Allah, peace be upon him, in da'wah (inviting to Islam) was comprehensive in wisdom, gentleness, and excellent example, based on the Almighty's saying: {Invite to the way of your Lord with wisdom and good counsel and debate with them in the most kindly manner}, and His saying: {And if you had been rude [in speech] and harsh in heart, they would have disbanded from about you}. This is evident in his gentleness with the Bedouin who urinated in the mosque, his wise dialogue with the young man who sought permission to commit fornication, his pleasant demeanor towards people, and his gradual approach to da'wah by starting with what is most important, as in his instruction to Mu'adh ibn Jabal.
