Is the use of pig figures in children's toys forbidden (haram), and should children be prevented from seeing this animal?

The vocabulary and meanings that a child encounters influence their cultural identity. Scholars have indicated that Islamic law permits children to play with dolls to prepare them for their future, as mentioned by Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar. The pig is not merely a forbidden animal; it is a cultural component of the Christian West and a symbol of disbelief (kufr). Prophet Muhammad (peace be upon him) informed us that Jesus (peace be upon him) will break the cross and kill the pig, as noted by Ibn Battal and Al-Nawawi. Therefore, it is not permissible for a Muslim to raise their children to be accustomed to or interested in pigs, whether in a story, a toy, or a play. Rather, they should be alerted to its association with false religion. As for avoiding a fleeting sight of it, that is a difficult and unnecessary matter; the intent is that it should not be familiar or an object of interest and care.
