Does using a Colgate miswak or any other type invalidate the fast?

A fasting person is permitted to use a miswak (tooth-stick) and toothpaste, provided they are careful not to swallow anything. This is a Sunnah (prophetic tradition) for both those who are fasting and those who are not. There is no harm in applying perfume, henna, or hair oil, as these do not affect the fast.
