Is the statement, "The best men of this Ummah are those who have the most wives," from the sayings of the Salaf, and what is its interpretation?

This statement is attributed to Abdullah ibn Abbas, may Allah be pleased with them both. Al-Hafiz Ibn Hajar, in "Al-Fath," stated that Ibn Abbas's intent with "goodness" was the Prophet, peace be upon him, and with "nation," he meant his special companions. From this, it is understood that abstaining from marriage is not preferable, as evidenced by the Prophet, peace be upon him, who, despite being the most God-fearing of people, married frequently for various benefits, such as conveying rulings and manifesting miracles. He would even visit all his wives in a single night, despite the hardship of life, which indicates his physical strength.
