What is the ruling on watching an educational program that includes an accidental utterance contrary to Sharia or creed? And is it obligatory to stop watching, or is it sufficient to condemn it in one's heart?
It is sufficient for you to disapprove of it in your heart and to strive to remove the evil. You should also denounce it verbally or in writing by contacting those in charge of the program. This does not prevent you from benefiting from it as long as you disapprove of the aforementioned statement. Allah Almighty said: "And when you see those who engage in [offensive] discourse concerning Our verses, then turn away from them until they enter into another conversion. And if Satan should cause you to forget, then do not remain after the recollection with the wrongdoing people." Then He said: "And those who fear Allah are not held accountable for them at all, but [their duty is] to remind them that perhaps they will fear Allah." This means that sitting with them is not forbidden if a person enjoins good and forbids evil and strives for its removal.
