Is the waiting period (iddah) considered over, and is it permissible to contract a temporary customary marriage until the official divorce proceedings are finalized, or is this considered adultery, and what is the way to deal with this situation?

It is among the husband's duties to provide housing and maintenance for his wife in a reasonable manner, as Allah Almighty says: "And upon the father is their provision and their clothing according to what is reasonable," and He says: "Lodge them [in a section] of where you dwell out of your means and do not harm them to make [life] hard for them." What the husband did, harming his wife and extorting her, is a sin and a reprehensible act, and the Sharia has forbidden it. Allah Almighty says: "And do not make difficulties for them in order to take [back] part of what you gave them unless they commit a clear immorality. And live with them in kindness." The wife should advise her husband and remind him of Allah. If he persists, she has the right to resort to the judiciary. The wife is not permitted to marry before the divorce occurs, and the waiting period (iddah) is not counted except after the divorce or a court ruling. It is a condition for a woman's travel that she be accompanied by a mahram.
