What is a husband's duty towards his wife when he discovers she does not care for his mother?

Allah Almighty has made it obligatory to be good to parents, to revere them, and to honor them, for Allah Almighty says: "And your Lord has decreed that you worship none but Him. And to parents, show goodness." And when a man came to the Prophet (peace be upon him) seeking permission to go for jihad, he asked him: "Are your parents alive?" He said: "Yes." He said: "Then strive in their service." Therefore, the questioner should be keen to please his mother as long as it does not contradict Islamic law, and he should deal with his wife wisely and convince her of the necessity of being good to the mother and respecting her, because that is part of glorifying Allah Almighty. For the pleasure of Allah Almighty is in the pleasure of the mother, and her right to dutifulness is more emphasized than others. He should strive to reconcile between the mother and the wife and seek Allah Almighty's help through supplication.
