What is the ruling on using the Qur’an to harm people, such as reciting Surah Yasin in reverse?

Those who overturn the Quran or write it with impurities are sorcerers and heretics who seek closeness to devils. Their ruling is death for disbelief if they do not repent. Some scholars have gone further, stating that their repentance is not accepted unless they come forward repentant before they are discovered, like the heretic who conceals disbelief and outwardly professes Islam; such a person is killed, and their repentance is not accepted.
