Is what was reported concerning al-Lucknowi al-Hindi's "Iqamat al-Hujjah" regarding the states of worshippers—that they pray 1,000 rak'ahs daily—reasonable, or is it an exaggeration?

It is narrated from the righteous predecessors that some of them would pray a large number of rak'ahs (units of prayer) during the day and night. For instance, Ali ibn Abdullah ibn Abbas used to perform a thousand prostrations daily, and Murrah al-Hamdani would pray six hundred rak'ahs daily, and Ali ibn al-Husayn would pray a thousand rak'ahs during the day and night. Al-Lakhnawi pointed out that this is not far-fetched for the "People of Allah" whom Allah has granted special strength, and no one denies it except those who deny miracles (karamat). Some scholars explained this by the blessings of their times, due to the abundance of their obedience to Allah.
