Is it permissible to bury the deceased at night, whether death occurred before or after midnight?

It is permissible to bury the deceased at night, based on the hadith (definition) of Ibn Abbas (may Allah be pleased with them both) that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) prayed over a man who was buried at night, and he did not disapprove of him being buried at night. Likewise, what Abu Dawud narrated from Jabir is that the Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) was in the graveyard at night. The Prophet (peace and blessings be upon him) himself was buried at night, as Aisha (may Allah be pleased with her) said: "We did not know of the burial of the Messenger of Allah (peace and blessings be upon him) until we heard the sound of the shovels in the last part of the night." A number of Companions were also buried at night. What has been reported regarding the dislike of burying at night is interpreted as applying when hastening the burial at night would compromise praying over the deceased, or preparing their shroud properly, or if there was a necessity to hasten their burial.
