Is it permissible to supplicate with the words: "O Allah, make me one of Your servants whom You love?"
There is no harm in a Muslim supplicating to Allah to make him among those whom He loves, as it is narrated in the well-known supplication: "O Allah, I ask You for Your love, and the love of those who love You, and the love of deeds that bring me closer to Your love." This supplication is important, for if Allah loves you, and you love those whom He loves, and you do the deeds that He loves, you will be among His awliya (close friends). The love of Allah is the ultimate goal, and its path is following the Prophet (peace and blessings of Allah be upon him).
