The answer

A woman becomes pure from menstruation and postpartum bleeding through one of two signs: the drying of the private parts from blood, so that no trace of it remains, or the emission of the white discharge (al-qassah al-bayda'), which is a white fluid that appears after menstruation and postpartum bleeding. There is no difference in the signs of purity whether the birth was of a male or a female.
