Is it permissible to perform the two rak'ahs of wudu between the adhan of Fajr and the two rak'ahs of Fajr?

The two Rak'ahs (cycles of prayer) of Wudu' (ablution) between the Fajr Adhan (call to prayer) and the two Rak'ahs of Fajr prayer are permissible, according to the preponderant opinion of the scholars. This is supported by the Hadith of Abu Hurairah in the Two Sahihs (Bukhari and Muslim), where the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said to Bilal: "O Bilal, tell me of the most hopeful deed you have done in Islam, for I heard the sound of your sandals in front of me in Paradise." Bilal said: "I have not done any deed more hopeful to me than that I never purified myself with ablution at any time of night or day except that I prayed with that ablution what was destined for me to pray."
