If something is accidentally damaged and the affected party is compensated, does sin fall upon both parties?

There is no sin upon one who unintentionally damages something belonging to another. However, he must compensate the owner with the value of the damaged item if it is a estimable commodity, or with a similar item if it is a fungible commodity. The owner of the right may accept the substitute.
