Was Khawlah bint Hakim as-Sulamiyyah one of the maternal aunts of the Prophet, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him, and did the Prophet, may Allah’s prayers and peace be upon him, marry his maternal aunt based on what was stated in Musnad Imam Ahmad?
Khawla bint Hakim As-Sulamiyyah offered herself to the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him. She was the wife of Uthman ibn Madh'un, and she was not the Prophet's maternal aunt. An error appeared in one of the narrations stating that she was his aunt. The correct information is that she was the aunt of Saeed ibn Al-Musayyib, who narrated from her the about (ritual bathing). The Prophet's maternal aunt is his mother's sister, and Aminah bint Wahb had no sisters who would be the Prophet's aunts. Rather, Banu Zuhrah were his maternal uncles because his mother Aminah was from them. Khawla was from Banu Sulaym and she was Saeed ibn Al-Musayyib's aunt. The questioner must be cautious about engaging in doubts with misleading individuals without firm knowledge and certainty.
