Is what is mentioned in the books of siyar (biographies) true, that Jesus, peace be upon him, walked on water? And is it permissible to narrate it as Israʼiliyyat (tales from Jewish and Christian traditions) if it is not true?

The widely circulated reports concerning Prophet Jesus's (peace be upon him) walking on water are not authentic, neither in chain of narration nor in text. Therefore, it is impermissible to disseminate them or use them as evidence.

Walking on water or flying in the air is not exclusive to prophets; it may be performed by others. It does not indicate a person's sainthood unless their actions conform to the Qur’an and Sunnah, because sorcerers may do so with the help of jinn. Even if you see a man walking on water or flying in the air, do not be deceived by him until you examine his affair against the Qur’an and Sunnah.
