What is the ruling on naming a group of Muslims with a new designation, such as Salafiyyah or Sufiyyah?

There is no legal impediment to naming a group of Muslims with a name that does not conflict with Sharia (definition), such as naming themselves "Salafiyyah" if their goal is to follow thef pious predecessors and purify the religion from innovations, or naming themselves "Sufiyyah" if their goal is to purify hearts from polytheism and their ailments and to ascend to the level of Ihsan (excellence). The consideration is for the realities and contents, not the names.
