The question

Why can't I rely on myself to make decisions, and why am I hesitant and anxious and don't quickly trust anyone, and why don't I see in my dreams what I pray for to solve my problems, and why aren't my prayers answered even though I pray to Allah a lot, and is my not praying the reason for that?

The answer

The most dangerous illness is abandoning prayer, because it squanders the opportunity to connect with God and exposes the one who abandons it to His wrath and to being resurrected with the worst of disbelievers. Many scholars have gone so far as to consider the one who abandons prayer a disbeliever and have ruled that such a person must be put to death. Therefore, one must hasten to repent and to be diligent in prayer before it is too late, and to increase supplication both within and outside of prayer, for Allah the Almighty says: "And seek help through patience and prayer," and the Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said: "The closest a servant is to his Lord is when he is prostrating, so increase supplication therein." It is also advisable to perform Istikhara (prayer for guidance) and consult trustworthy individuals regarding matters of indecision, and to rely on Allah, while not depending on visions and dreams.
