Divorce during menstruation is considered valid by the majority of scholars, including the Four Schools of Thought. However, Sheikh al-Islam Ibn Taymiyyah and those who agreed with him, such as Ibn al-Qayyim, Sheikh Ibn Baz, Ibn Uthaymeen, and the Permanent Committee for Issuing Fatwas, are of the opinion that it is invalid because it is an innovated divorce ( bid'ah) and contrary to the prescribed legality of divorce during a period of purity.
