If the father of the girl agrees and she consents to the marriage, her father can appoint whomever he wishes to عقد (solemnize) the marriage. It is not a condition for the validity of the marriage that the girl, her guardian (wali), or the husband be present. Rather, what is important is that the authorization () comes from the legal guardian (wali shar'an).
