Is it permissible to lie to please a mother who commands it?
Lying is a sin that leads to immorality, and then to Hellfire. It is not permissible to obey one's mother in her command to lie, because there is no obedience to a creature in disobedience to the Creator. One can use ma'areedh, which is to utter an ambiguous phrase from which the listener understands something other than what the speaker intends. The early Muslims used this to avoid lying.
