Is it permissible to give Zakat funds to a person in need of an expensive heart operation abroad, and to another for marriage and its essential costs, such as furniture?

If a person is in need of medical treatment and cannot afford it, he is poor and deserves Zakat (definition); in fact, he has a greater claim to it than others due to his poverty and illness. The same applies to someone who needs to get married but cannot afford the expenses. If Zakat is disbursed to these two individuals with the intention of Zakat, the obligation is fulfilled. However, if it is disbursed without the intention of Zakat, it must be given again, according to the hadith (definition): "Deeds are only by intentions."
